The magazine
Sponsored content policy
This magazine accepts clearly labelled sponsored content under narrow rules. This page publishes them.
Citizens Radio Review is an independent magazine with a defined subject, community radio and low-power FM, and it funds itself in part through clearly labelled sponsored content. This page defines what that means, for readers and for advertisers.
The rules
- Sponsored articles are marked as sponsored at the top of the page, in the same plain words as this policy.
- Advertisers must fit the magazine’s world: broadcasting equipment, engineering services, media training, community media funding, communications tools for small organizations.
- No sponsorship changes a number, a rule translation, a source or a verdict. A sponsored page never reviews the advertiser’s own product as if it were ours.
- The magazine keeps fewer sponsored placements than it can sell, so the guides remain the loudest thing on the site.
- Links inside sponsored placements carry the rel attributes our terms page and standard practice require, and they never disguise an advertiser as editorial.
What is never for sale
The editorial verdicts in the startup roadmap, the figures in the rules desk and the safety advice in the storm playbook cannot be bought, moved or softened. Corrections reported by readers through the contact page outrank any commercial relationship.
